Lancaster Dance School

We were approached to build a website for Lancaster Dance School to showcase their courses. The brief was to create a webiste that would be easily editable so that it could be taken over and maintained by the client.

The site was designed using WordPress to facilitate this. We took care of the hosting and initial design and then handed over to the client with some training for them to maintain the site going forward.

Lancashire Student Volunteering

In 2012, we were approached by the Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership at UCLAN to help them develop a web portal and bespoke customer relationship management system (CRM) to manage student volunteers. The system needed to meet the requirements of three distinct user groups: volunteers, volunteer organisations and the Centre for Volunteering staff.

• Volunteers can register, search and apply for opportunities and record hours volunteers
• Volunteer organisations can register and upload current opportunities
• Centre for Volunteering staff can manage volunteers and organisations and download reports

The project involved liaising with centre staff and students to establish requirements, ongoing development and extensive user testing. This end project was transferred internally to UCLAN and we prepared the documentation and completed the hand over.

Monochrome Consulting

Design and development of new website for Monochrome Consulting, a new local bid management and IT consultancy company.

The design was kept simplistic, black and white to reflect the Monochrome branding.

GESE International Examiner Research

The brief for this project was to create a secure website to conduct a research study about rating speaking tasks. As part of this study, we needed to set up a secure website so that people in the UK, India and China could watch videos of a speaking test (approx. 10 minutes each), submit a rating, and write notes on what they have seen.

There were a couple of other requirements, to do with timing and progression through the site. After an analysis of the requirements it was decided to develop a secure Moodle site for this project.

Societas Linguistica Europaea website

Redesign of existing website and development of online membership system, using PHP and SQL Databse, including online payments and development of online administration tools.

Ongoing support and maintenance of website for several years.

Counselling Merseyside

Design and development of new website for Councelling Merseyside, a new local councelling service.

The breif was for a fresh, simple design.

Dystefl: Dyslexia for teachers of English as a foreign language

The Dystefl project aims to develop a training course and self-study materials for pre- and in-service teachers of English as a foreign language in order to raise their awareness of the foreign language learning needs of dyslexic students.

My role within this projecct involved working with the project team to create E-learning materials within Moodle.

Lancaster University Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FASS)

Integration of Lancaster University’s research information system, Pure, with FASS department web pages. Using PHP and web services provided by ISS to read data views from the University's research information system. For example the department staff pages, dynamically created using PHP with data from the ISS web services.

British Council Language Testing Course

The breif fo this project was to develop a British Council Language Testing CPD Course which would run via Moodle with Roehampton University.

Working with academics providing pegagical support to create materials and providing technical support for the first two cohorts.
